British band Angel Witch will be taking the stage together with Maltese bands Forsaken and Ascendor during a night that promises to deliver a top notch experience to metal fans.

With a lineage dating back to 1977, South London’s Angel Witch were the leading lights of a now legendary movement known as the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, that saw their path interwoven with the likes of Iron Maiden, Saxon and more.

With a style that has been described as dark, uncompromising and heavy, the band’s music is a perfect complement for the sword and sorcery-themed lyrics of songs such as White Witch, Gorgon and Angel Of Death. Music critic Geoff Barton of Sounds magazine famously described the band’s sound as “the first Black Sabbath album played through a cement mixer”.

Forsaken, known for its melodic, heavy epic doom metal, established itself as one of the most consistent and long-standing bands in Malta’s underground scene throughout its 20-year existence.

Gozitan heavy metal quintet Ascendor released an eight-track debut album, Becoming, last summer. Prior to that, the band took part in the annual Extreme Metal Assault and made it to the final of the Hard Rock Rising Battle of the bands.

The event is being organised by Metall Insula and takes place on Friday at Chateau Buskett. Tickets are available online or at the door and transport by bus can be booked by sending an e-mail to tickets@metallinsula.com.
