Two teenagers yesterday admitted to seriously injuring an Arriva official who told them to get off a bus they had boarded when it was still moving.

The boys got into an argument with Daniel Seychell and punched him, injuring his eye. The incident happened at around midnight on September 29 at the Valletta terminus.

The teenagers are not being named because they were minors – 16 and 17 – at the time.

In court yesterday, the boys stood in the dock, their parents in the public gallery behind them, and admitted to seriously injuring Mr Seychell.

The younger of the two also admitted to committing a crime during the operative period of a previous sentence.

Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit conditionally discharged the older boy for a year while his friend had a previous probation order for three years extended by another three.

In her judgment, the magistrate said she hoped the younger one would learn his lesson once and for all.
