I wish to congratulate the initiative launched by the Environmental Landscape Consortium to distribute thousands of seedlings and planters to the local councils, which, in turn, will distribute them for free for placement in window sills and balconies in village cores.

This complements the recent suggestion to have plant sheds in schools, inducing students to spread the floral culture not only for one year but for future years.

I would like to recommend that, within the project to embellish our villages for the benefit of residents and tourists, local councils hold an annual competition with prizes for the best-decorated façades and balconies. The councils could also boost the initiative by coming up with mottos such as: We keep it green and you keep it clean. This will help generate a better environment around the villages.
