Malta has a good chance of making it past Thursday’s Eurovision semi-final, according to two betting companies.

William Hill and Ladbrokes have listed Romania as favourite for the second semi-final night, with Malta’s Coming Home placing fifth of the 10 that should make it through to Saturday’s final.

Malta will be the first to take to the stage, hoping that the song title Coming Home does not become a reality too soon.

The six-piece country folk pop band Firelight, led by singer, author and composer Richard Edward Micallef, held its second dress rehearsal yesterday in Copenhagen.

The popular Eurovision blog Oiko Times failed to share the enthusiasm of the betting companies and hinted that Firelight could be heading home on Thursday.

There was some good news for the Maltese group in the looks department though as the popular blog Good Evening Europe gave the highest score – 12 points – to Firelight’s lead singer Mr Micallef as the “hottest Eurovision 2014 man”.
