I was very pleased to read about the Rights 4U course organised by the Commissioner for Children. I would like to mention that Children’s Commissioner Helen D’Amato had commissioned me to write a book on this subject, called Il-Kompetizzjoni. The book is not sold in shops and is found in all school libraries.

The book begins by describing a story about a boat on its way to Malta from Libya which capsizes, leading to a number of people drowning. A baby boy, whose parents perished in the tragedy, is saved and is brought up by a Maltese family.

The boy, who is from Eritrea, is not always made to feel welcome at school because of the colour of his skin. One boy in particular behaves badly towards this Eritrean.

Eventually, these two boys and their class take part in a very keen competition with another class of girls.

This well-illustrated book should prove to be very popular with children of all ages and I encourage them to look it up in their school library.
