A man charged with five bomb hoaxes at the Law Courts was yesterday denied bail after a magistrate heard he managed to make the calls from two mobile phones without using a SIM card.

The 39-year-old contractor, Richard Cuschieri, had made the calls to police because he had cases on those days, Police Inspector Daniel Zammit testified.

It resulted that he had used the mobile phones without a SIM card but investigators tracked them to the accused through sophisticated mobile location devices.

During the sitting, lawyer Veronique Dalli requested bail but Magistrate Saviour Demicoli denied it.

She also ruled there was enough evidence for the Attorney General to issue a bill of indictment.

Court experts are expected to testify in the next sitting. The case continues.
