France coach Laurent Blanc reacted angrily yesterday after being asked further questions about Samir Nasri’s provocative goal celebration during the 1-1 draw with England.

Nasri’s 39th-minute equaliser earned France a share of the spoils in their opening game in Donetsk on Monday but his reaction to the goal sparked controversy.

Having put his finger to his lips immediately after scoring, the Manchester City man could clearly be seen on television uttering the words ‘Shut your face!’ in the direction of the touchline.

Pushed to explain his actions, Nasri admitted he had been targeting by a journalist from sports newspaper L’Equipe who had criticised his performances in France’s recent warm-up matches.

Blanc had refused to speculate on Nasri’s motives after Monday’s match and after being pressed on the issue again in a press briefing yesterday, he lost his patience.

“It doesn’t interest me,” Blanc told reporters.

“The players’ reactions are personal. If the lads have got problems with particular people and the media, you’re big boys and you can sort things out between yourselves.

“We can’t control the players’ reactions. They can be unexpected. It’s a part of the game and it’s been going on for a very, very, very long time,” added Blanc, who admitted he would have “a conversation” with Nasri.

Probed again about the impact of Nasri’s behaviour on the France team’s image, Blanc showed signs of frustration.

“You’re very nice, but I’m here to talk about Ukraine and Sweden (France’s next opponents in Euro 2012),” he claimed.

“You can talk about the rest with the person concerned. I’ve said what I had to say... full stop.

“I’d like to point out that, not that long ago, a very big newspaper headlined an editorial with the words: ‘Shut it.’ So you guys do it as well.”
