Jesus Christ teaches to give to Caesar that which belongs to Caesar, and to God that which belongs to God. But Gozo Bishop Mario Grech, with reference to the divorce referendum, seems to be suggesting that if you give to the state that which belongs to the state, by voting yes for divorce, well then you can’t receive Holy Communion.

Having said this, I think that before judging others (also against Christ’s instructions) as wolves in sheep’s clothing, the bishop should better watch himself, for he might be seeing the twig in his brother’s eye but failing to see the entire log in his own.
