As the Bir Miftuħ International Festival of classic music approaches, tickets are being booked at a rapid rate for the upcoming trio of concerts at the Chapel of Bir Miftuħ, Gudja, the organisers said.

The first concert, on Friday, is being made possible with the support of the ADRC Trust in collaboration with the Embassy of Spain. Francisco Bernier will perform works by Fernando Sors, Heitor Villa Lobos, Isaac Albéniz, Agustín Barros Mangoré and Francisco Tarrega. This concert is practically sold out.

The second concert is due on May 31 and is sponsored by the Embassy of France and the Alliance Française de Malte – Méditerranée. The audience will enjoy a Violin and Violoncello Recital by Agnès Pyka on violin and Sébastien Hurtaud on violoncello. The duo will perform works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Maurice Ravel, Reinhold Glière and George Frederick Handel.

The third concert will be performed by the Arianna Art Ensemble on June 6. This concert features works by Antonio Vivaldi and is made possible with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute under the patronage of the Embassy of Italy.

All concerts start at 8pm. Tickets include a reception hosted by Din l-Art Ħelwa on the chapel grounds and are available at €20 per concert per person. Block tickets for all three concerts cost €50 and block tickets for two concerts and are being offered at €35.
