The whole concept of the water taxi is brilliant and after a few months its popularity has increased. Unfortunately the size of the vessel has stayed the same.

I wrote a letter to the editor, published on January 7, highlighting the plight of the Three Cities residents.

Often the boat is full either leaving Vittoriosa or when one is trying to return from Valletta.

I implore Transport Malta to follow up the numerous complaints about the size of the boat being used by the operator.

This issue needs addressing urgently especially with the season of cruise liners is upon us. The current demand already exceeds the supply, so to speak.

I am led to believe that on being awarded the contract the operator had to make certain undertakings to provide an adequate service. In return he was given financial assistance to operate.

Currently, all Transport Malta does when it receives any complaints regarding the water taxi’s size is to send a standard reply that it is looking into the matter.

I, together with many other residents of the Three Cities want to be in a position to use this type of transport across the Grand Harbour continuously.

Having to wait approximately one hour because of lack of space takes the shine off what is a marvellous and supposedly time-saving idea.
