Roy Stolk lived up to his reputation as one of the top players in this year’s EBSA European Champion-ship when reaching the semi-finals after beating Duncan Bezzina 5-1 in Poland, yesterday.

Dutchman Stolk opened a 3-1 lead at the end of the first session as Bezzina had pulled one back when the score was 2-0 against him.

However, the Malta champion could do little to stop Stolk from booking a place in the last four as he claimed the next two frames to seal the win.

Malta’s interest in the EBSA championships was ended later in the day when Roberta Cutajar was ousted by Russian Anastasia Nechaeva 4-1 from the quarter-finals.

Cutajar was the country’s only representative in the women’s championship.
