Consumers are advised to be on the lookout for electrical adaptors like the one appearing in this picture.

This type of product can be dangerous because when it is plugged in a socket outlet but is not in use with an appliance, it opens the shutters and makes it possible for the user to come into contact with live conductors. This therefore poses a serious risk to unaware or vulnerable consumers, such as children.

Because of the risk they create for consumers, these products are being recalled from the market.

Economic operators are to refrain from placing them on the market and legal action will be taken against those operators who ignore this warning.

For more information or for complaints, call the MCCAA on 2395 2000.
