When I read in the ‘Events for your diary’ column of The Sunday Times of Malta that ‘bereavement’ sessions were to be held I immediately applied to attend.
My mother’s suffering had ended as God Almighty had planned it, but mine was just beginning.
With funeral arrangements, documents to prepare and slipping from one department to another all you want and need is total peace and soul-searching.
These sessions gave me support in my great loss. The motto ‘A heart with an ear’ is appropriate and well-meant.
Bernadette Briffa, facilitator, social worker, spiritual guide and grief recovery specialist, conducted the sessions. Thanks to her, I can say that now I feel much stronger, both emotionally and physically.
The road to recovery is long, but with professional help, it becomes shorter and less painful.
I would like to say a big thank you to my fellow participants who were part of the healing process. God bless you all.
