The number of unmarried mothers who requested social benefits in the first three months of 2011 was 213, with 130 applying for children’s allowances and 83 for special social assistance for unmarried mothers.

Social Services Minister Dolores Cristina gave the details in reply to a parliamentary question by Labour MP Noel Farrugia.
