A bendy bus caught fire yesterday, the second time in a week one of these notorious public transport vehicles has had an engine malfunction.

The driver of bus 235, on X2, managed to manoeuvre it safely into a lane outside the University, Arriva said.

The bus operator’s control room was in constant contact with the driver and fire extinguishers from the bus and others in the area were used to put out the blaze.

In the first incident, a bendy bus near Mater Dei Hospital caught fire on Sunday evening after a fuel leak developed into a fire.
