“Two statues on one pedestal – two clubs on one pedestal, the Church.”

These words were uttered by Fr Kalċidon Vassallo, parish priest of Balzan, during a short speech he delivered in church when the feast was over.

We attended the feast on July 8 and loved the peace, harmony and togetherness that we noticed in Balzan.

Many villages in Malta have a lot to learn from Balzan where they honour and are devout of their patron saint, unlike many other villages where people are “dilettanti” of their saints. Many choose to insult the other side and they do it in honour of their saint.

What a bunch of fools and ignorant people!

Balzan did not have as much fireworks as some other villages have but their feast was very enjoyable and we truly loved the cosy and peaceful atmosphere the Balzanin created with their dignified attitude.

We have too many pedestals in various towns and villages and many stand on them aiming their guns at the other side, shooting insults and creating a war zone instead of a devoltional atmosphere.

Look at Balzan and learn.

All deserve to be congratulated. Well done to the parish priest, band clubs and all those who made the feast so beautiful.
