I have complained with the Mellieħa local council regarding Għadira Bay many times. The two contractors with a beach concession have this year gone a step further: the space for us poor tax payers is even smaller than last year’s.
This apart from the fact that this year the lifeguard post has become a small maisonette, right in the middle of the bay adjacent to San Remo Restaurant. I fully agree with a lifeguard post in such a populated bay but did it have to be that big?
I have nothing against the beach contractors but I think it’s ridiculous to have to pay up to €20 for an umbrella and two sunbeds. Does the blue flag status take this into consideration as well? I personally cannot afford this every Sunday.
Councillors and beach supervisors, please note! Għadira Bay is not Rimini. We live in Malta not Italy where the beaches are run by contractors. Please do not forget us poor natives!
