Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes will sit on the coaching bench for a Bundesliga game for the last time when the champions meet his former club Borussia Moenchengladbach in the season finale on Saturday, and hinted yesterday that he might retire.

The 68-year-old, who won the Champions League with Real Madrid in 1998 and had a long playing and coaching career at Gladbach, will make way for Pep Guardiola after the end of the season following two years in charge at Bayern.

“Saturday will be my last Bundesliga game as a coach,” Heynckes, who coached Bayern in three stints in his career, told reporters.

“What will happen after that, we will have to wait until after our two finals. I will probably say something in June after the German Cup final.”

His team have clinched the Bundesliga title and could win an unprecedented treble of titles for a German club with the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund on May 25 and the German Cup final on June 1 still to come.

Heynckes, who has coached teams in 641 Bundesliga matches, second only to Otto Rehhagel, hinted he could even call it quits after the season.

“If I was 15 years younger I would seriously think about a job abroad but I am not the youngest anymore and clubs want to do a generation change and you cannot really do it with a 68-year-old.”

Meanwhile, Bayern winger Arjen Robben yesterday dismissed speculation that he would leave the German champions at the end of the season for Manchester City, saying he had no reason to move.

“I am not dealing with this speculation,” the Dutchman said.

“There is so much speculation but I only want to deal with football.

“I still have two years on my deal so why should I leave? It is all about performance on the pitch and in the past games I have shown I can contribute here at Bayern.”

Robben, who has been at Bayern since 2009 after spells at Chelsea and Real Madrid, had an unhappy first part of the season but has won back his starting spot in recent months, helping his team to the brink of an unprecedented treble for a German club.

Reports have been mounting in England and Germany in the past days linking the 29-year-old with a possible move to Premier Lea-gue side Manchester City.

“There has been so much speculation in the past month and I am only focused on Bayern,” said Robben, who lost the 2010 and 2012 Champions League finals with the Munich side.

“We want to win the European title on May 25 and that is the only thing that counts.”
