Bayern Munich stumbled for the third game in succession as they were pegged back for a 2-2 draw at 10-man Eintracht Frankfurt, yesterday.

Arjen Robben gave Bayern the lead before Szabolcs Huszti went from hero to villain for Frankfurt, bringing them on terms before the break before getting sent off in the 65th minute.

Bayern’s lead was restored by Joshua Kimmich just before the red card, but Marco Fabian equalised again and Frankfurt held on for a point.

Having also drawn their previous Bundesliga game, 1-1 with Cologne, and lost 1-0 to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League it extended Bayern’s poor run of form across both sides of the international break.

It was backs-to-the-wall stuff from the hosts in the final 10 minutes but they managed to hold on for a precious point, denying Bayern the chance to extend their lead over Hertha Berlin and Borussia Dortmund, who drew on Friday night.

Cologne moved up to second in the table behind Bayern thanks to a 2-1 win over struggling Ingolstadt which extended their unbeaten start to the season to seven games.

Anthony Modeste put Cologne in front on 28 minutes, latching on to Yuya Osako’s pass, took the ball down well and beat Orjan Nyland.

Modeste added his and Cologne’s second 10 minutes later from the penalty spot after Osako was fouled by Tobias Levels, completing his third brace in the Bundesliga to take him to the top of the scoring charts with his seventh of the season.

Cologne did not need a third, but they were made to sweat it out late on when Lukas Hinterseer pulled one back for the guests from the penalty spot in the last minute. But it was too little too late for the Bavarians, who dropped to the foot of the table.

Elsewhere, Hoffenheim took the honours in a Baden-Wurttemberg derby with a 2-1 win over Freiburg at the Rhein-Neckar Arena.

Sandro Wagner gave Hoffenheim the lead before half-time but Florian Niederlechner brought Freiburg level with 12 minutes left.

Turkey defender Caglar Soyoncu blotted his copybook two minutes later, however, fouling Sebastian Rudy inside the area to concede a penalty which Andrej Kramaric dinked down the middle to earn Hoffenheim all three points.
