Joseph Lia (right), one of Malta’s emerging baritones, will be giving two solo concerts in Lithuania for the celebration of the International Women’s Day.

The programme includes popular arias and duets from the Italian repertoire, particularly arias by Mozart, Donizetti and Verdi.  This event is being organised by Tomas Mikalauskas, the president of the Lithuanian Community in Malta, who through his company Tomas International, a company in Malta that specialises in organising tourism events, was able to make all the necessary arrangements.

Lia will be accompanied by the Lithuanian pianist Audronė Eitmanavičiūtė, who is a lecturer at the Kaunas Academy of Music, and winner of the best accompanist during The second International Young Singers Academic Singing Contest (Kochtla - Jarvis, 2006). The first concert takes place at the Panevezys Musical Theatre on Monday, with the second being held at the hall of the Kaunas Academy of Music on Tuesday, which is a public holiday in Lithuania.

Soprano Ieva Goleckyte will be the supporting artist for these two concerts, where together with Lia will be singing duets for baritone and soprano.

The International Women’s Day is highly celebrated in Lithuania, like in all ex-Soviet countries, and all the flower shops will be extremely busy with men buying flowers to their loved ones.

All those that would like to go and support Joseph, and visit Lithuania can contact tomas@tomas-intl.com for further information.
