Bank of Valletta has renewed its support for the Dinja Waħda programme run by Birdlife Malta in local primary schools. The bank has been supporting it since 2007.
The programme offers teachers a child-friendly guide with a range of practical, environmental activities to introduce the flora and fauna of the Maltese countryside. The guide is reinforced by the school coordinator, Denise Falzon, who visits schools throughout the year to guide teachers and keep a record of their progress.
The agreement was signed at Għadira nature reserve in Mellieħa by Birdlife Malta executive director Steve Mickewright and the bank’s chief officer operations Michael Galea. Mr Galea said the bank was helping educate the younger generation to take an active role towards the environment’s safekeeping.
Mr Micklewright said Dinja Waħda inspires and educates children about the natural world. “As future custodians of the environment, it is important to ensure our children have an appreciation for the world around them,” he said.
