The recently-published results of Bank of Valletta show that this bank has registered noteworthy progress in all areas of its activity. I would say that this commendable achievement has been made thanks to and through the dedication and commitment of its staff. However, global staff remuneration has gone down.
The two unions at this bank, rather than bickering with each other over recognition, should realise that their function is to promote the well-being of their members and of the employees in general. If need be, they should cooperate rather than oppose each other to fulfil their basic function and ensure that they effectively promote and improve the conditions of work.
