The Santa Venera HSBC Bank branch will be closed over the next few days due to the electrical fault and ensuing small fire that broke out within a section of the building Wednesday morning.

During the incident, all bank employees and customers were quickly evacuated unharmed and all emergency procedures were implemented effectively, while no customer assets were damaged, the bank said.

The bank said the staff would be relocated to its Ħamrun branch, where Santa Venera customers could be offered a limited service.

The closure is intended to allow for a survey of the electrical system and to clean up the premises to resume the service “as soon as possible”.

HSBC apologised for any inconvenience caused and thanked the fire department and the police for their prompt action.
