Futsal KO holders Balzan FC and current league leaders Hibernians have progressed to the final of the KO competition after outclassing Ħamrun Spartans and Floriana respectively in the semis.

The FXDD KO final, to be played on April 26 at 8pm, promises to be an intriguing encounter.

Balzan and Hibs have already met twice this season with both games ending in a draw, thus highlighting the balance between both teams.

Hibernians, the sole leaders of the futsal league, and Balzan are still unbeaten.

In the first KO semi-final, played on Friday at the Corradino Pavilion, Balzan brushed aside a weak Ħamrun side 8-0.

With just one point from 14 games, Ħamrun are fighting to avoid relegation but they did well to make it all the way to the KO semi-finals.

For Balzan, this was probably their easiest knock-out game as in the previous rounds they obtained narrow wins against Żejtun, Melita and Lija Athletics.

Cosmin Anton scored four of Balzan’s eight goals in their semi-final win over the Spartans.

The second semi-final was another one-sided affair as Hibernians hit six goals past Floriana.

Hibs had beaten neighbours Tarxien in the last eight while the Greens reached the semis after ousting San Ġwann and Qormi.

Boycho Marev, Blagovest Marev and Ibrahim Tarik were on target for Hibs in their easy win over Floriana.
