The Manoel Theatre and the Malta Association for Contemporary Music is presenting a double bill dance programme entitled Chancel/Spirall, featuring the Ballet de l’Opéra Théâtre de Metz Métropole from France at the Manoel as part of the Modern Music Days (MMD) onSaturday at 8pm.

The music presents two very different facets of 20th century expression. Chancel is inspired by the music of German-born British composer Max Ritcher, with post-minimalist melodic contours that evoke film music.

The music for Spirall, composed by Maltese composer Ruben Zahra, portrays primordial rhythms combining primitive pulse with complex contemporary textures.

MMD is organised by the Manoel Theatre and the Malta Association for Contemporary Music as part of the Valletta 2018 cultural programme in the run-up to the European Capital of Culture year.
