Barely a few days old, 2018 has been expected with greater anticipation this time round, as Malta’s capital assumes the coveted title of the cultural capital city of Europe.

It was therefore fitting for Bank of Valletta, which also bears the capital’s name, to dedicate its 2018 calendar to the capital city. Immortalised by the artistic eye of renowned Maltese photographer Joe P. Smith, every photo brings to life a corner of Valletta, spots that may not be firm favourites with tourist information sites but bear the character and idiosyncrasies that make Valletta a unique architectural and historical gem.

Every month features a protagonist: a classic car from the pre-war epoch or immediately after. Preserved in mint condition by their dedicated owners, who ensure that every nut and bolt is original, these vehicles tell a story of a time when designers worked with little more than pen and paper.

This calendar is an annual appointment for the creative team at Bank of Valletta. It takes months of hard work for the people involved, but it is also takes them on a journey of discovery, a journey they take pride in sharing with the public. As the Preferred Partner of Valletta 2018 Foundation, Bank of Valletta will be participating in various initiatives, while also undertaken a number of its own to give homage to Valletta.
