Rifle shooter Patrick Azzopardi claimed a podium finish in three competitions (Varmint Class) at the BR Italia Mediterranean Finals, held in Siena.

In the first event, over 100m, Azzopardi hit a maximum score of 100 points, the same as eventual winner Gaetano Brancato.

In the second round, Azzo-pardi totalled 98 to finish third, just one point behind second-placed Ermanno Trenti (199).

The second competition was over 200 metres. After scoring 95 points in the first round, Azzopardi improved to 97 to claim the runner-up spot behind Brancato (195).

The last competition was on two targets (100m and 200m) in a 30-minute period.

Here, Azzopardi targeted 98 points over 100m and 97 over 200m to finish second. Brancato also won this event to complete a clean sweep.

The other Maltese shooter in Siena was Mario Mifsud. He finished sixth in the Sniper Class.
