A report in a weekly newspaper pointed out that 320 foreign executives have come to Malta over the past few years following the previous Administration’s decision to introduce attractive tax plans for individuals of high expertise in specific sectors. There is no doubt that these highly-paid individuals have purchased or are renting out high-value properties in Malta and Gozo.

This is not to mention the hundreds coming to Malta each year to work in the growing financial and gaming sectors, among others.

And, yet, property agents and Labour apologists are still grumbling about the former Permanent Residence Scheme, which barely attracted 100 individuals per year.

One wonders why.
