Albert Marshall, chairman of the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts, is set to assume the extra role of council CEO following the government’s decision to remove Davinia Galea, a government spokes-man confirmed yesterday.

Ms Galea claims she was forced to resign even though she had been employed on an indefinite contract. The government has denied this, saying that her three-year contract had expired.

A spokesman for the Parliamentary Secretariat of Culture said vice chairman Paul Cachia had assumed the role of CEO until Mr Marshall returns from a trip abroad. He added the government plans to overhaul the MCCA to clearly delineate between regulatory and organisational aspects, which includes holding festivals.
