The front door of a veterinary clinic in Mosta was destroyed when it was engulfed in flames early yesterday morning in what investigators believe was arson.

The police said they were alerted to the blaze, in Grognet Street, at about 5.30 a.m. The flames were put out by a policeman using a fire extinguisher. A Vauxhall parked nearby was damaged by the heat from the fire.

The veterinary clinic’s door was destroyed and some damage was also caused to the building. No one was injured.

Duty Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera was informed about the case and is holding an inquiry with the help of court-appointed experts. Police investigations are also underway.
