Police are investigating an arson attempt on disgraced former Chief Justice Noel Arrigo’s residence in Siġġiewi early yesterday morning.

The fire was extinguished by neighbours in St Margaret Street while the family was out at around 3.30 a.m., police told The Sunday Times. The door sustained little damage.

Dr Arrigo was released from custody last weekend after serving 22 months of detention for accepting a bribe to reduce the jail term of a drug dealer when he was Chief Justice.

A magisterial inquiry led by Magistrate Miriam Hayman was launched. The police are investigating.
