Arka Foundation was embarking on a general refurbishment of the first floor wħere clients are hosted after 11 years of operation, director Mgr Emanuel Curmi said during the annual general meeting.

Mgr Curmi said the project would cost around €200,000 and included the changing of the air conditioning system to a system called VRF that was more economical and efficient. The installation of solar water heaters help reduce the consumption of gas to heat the indoor pool and the water of the underground cisterns is recycled.

Secretary Michael Portelli read out the administrative report and explained the projects which the foundation had undertaken and completed over the past year.

The projects include a new generator, sponsored by Eco Gozo, and the refurbishment of the gymnasium, sponsored by Vodafone Foundation.
