An immigrant from Chad was yesterday given a suspended jail term after admitting to seriously injuring a man during an argument over the price of cannabis.

The argument was between Malik Mohammed, 29, residing in Msida, and John Bolenus, Police Inspector Nikolai Sant told Magistrate Antonio Mizzi. Legal aid lawyer Renzo Porsella Flores said the injuries sustained by the victim were only lacerations to the palm of his hand.

The court handed down a one-year jail term suspended for a year.
