Without entering into the ethical and scientific aspects of the proposed gay conversion therapy law, I humbly stand four square with Archbishop Charles Scicluna’s direction, which is in line with the universal Church’s teaching, that does not accept gender theory.

As in the case of the embryo freezing issue, the local Church set up an experts’ commission to present a report on this highly sensitive topic and its recommendations are correctly crossing swords with conflicting theories in a simmering debate.

In fact, last year the Council of European Episcopal Conferences had issued a statement declaring (inter alia) that the gender theory is not accepted by the Church because it is an expression of an anthropology contrary to the true and authentic appreciation of the human person.

And if that is not convincing enough, we have the joint declaration by Pope Francis and Patriarch Kirill, which incidentally also covers the manipulation of human nature andits course.
