On this day I always play jokes, but not serious ones. Knowing it is April 1, as soon as I wake up I am always prepared for jokes but I still fell for some a couple of times anyway.

Most probably this day started with someone playing a big joke on someone else on April 1, and the joke became famous and became a tradition.

I haven’t planned anything yet for this year but I’ll surely come up with something. Jeffrick Cachia, B.Comm (Hons), 3rd year.

On April Fool’s Day I always fall for jokes. The best one was when my cousin bought me a bottle of shampoo the day before and urged me to use it that same day. While I was asleep, she cut a lock of hair and made me believe I was going bald from useing theshampoo.

I was so mad but at the same time relieved. I once played a joke on a friend of mine when I led her to believe she wasn’t accepted for the part she worked so hard for. She was so happy when she found out the truth.

I think this day is still sort of a ‘tradition’, especially for children. Connie Farrugia, BA Maltese and Italian, 3rd year.

The most serious joke I’ve ever played on a friend was two years ago. My friends and I told one of our mates we were going out for a drink.

We gave him a time and place and he fell for it. Surprise, surprise, he was the only one who turned up.

He tried calling and messaging us all one by one, but we had agreed not to answer him until the morning after.

Luckily, when he met us on campus, he wasn’t as angry as we thought he would be.

On April Fool’s Day, as soon as you wake up, everyone starts trying to play jokes on each other, so even if you forget what date it is, you’re going to remember soon enough.

Normally, I’m very cautious – in fact, on such a day the problem is that if someone is honestly trying to tell me something I’m not expecting, I will probably find it hard to believe! I don’t recall ever falling for an April Fool’s joke.

I don’t know exactly how this day started. I know it goes back centuries. Could it be that someone pulled off a really good joke on someone on this date, and everyone followed suit?

Be careful before you believe this though – remember it’s April Fool. Paul Zahra, Mcast-Btec Higher National Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering, Institute of Mechanical Engineering, 2nd year.
