International Day Against Homophobia (Idaho) was recently celebrated for the first time on the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology campus in Paola.

The event included the screening by the US Embassy of the video It Gets Better aimed at parents and siblings of LGBTI people. Afterwards, a discussion was held by a panel composed of US Ambassador Gina Abercrombie-Winstanley, Ivan Grech of Winter Moods, TV presenter Ray Calleja, Gabi Calleja from the Malta Gay Rights Movement and Mcast counsellor Michael Conti. The panel was moderated by Sonja Casha.

The event was also addressed by Education Minister Evarist Bartolo, Nationalist MP Claudette Buttigieg, Prof. Arnold Cassola from Alternattiva Demokratika and Mcast principal and CEO Stephen Cachia.
