BUTTIGIEG. On June 3, MARY, aged 76, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her two sons Carl and his wife Isabelle and John and his wife Lorraine, her beloved grandchildren Samwel, Elaine, Danjel, Bennard and Suzanne, family and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8.30am for San Ġwann parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. MAHONEY. Suddenly, on May 31, JOHN aged 76, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his great loss his beloved wife Beatrice, née Barbara, his daughters Kathleen and Norman Mifsud, Vanessa and Marco Satariano, his son Thomas, his beloved grandchildren Sophie, Julia and Sam, his brothers and sisters Anthony, Lina, Josephine, Pat and Guy Mahoney and their spouses, his in-laws, cousins, nephews, nieces and numerous friends. SAGUNA. On June 1, at Mater Dei Hospital, GEORGE of Gżira, aged 66, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his partner, his brothers and sisters, relatives and friends. SPITERI. On May 31, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPHINE of Marsascala, widow of Victor, aged 95, passed away peacefully , comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her daughters Violet and her husband Judge Joseph Filletti, and Louise and her husband Edward Eichman, her grandchildren Stefano and his wife Alexandra, Tiziana and her husband Johann, Andrew and Peter, her great-grandchildren Roberto, Carla, Julian and Simone, other relatives and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be said tomorrow at 2.30pm at St Lawrence parish church, Vittoriosa, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

ZAMMIT. On June 2, at Mater Dei Hospital, ANTHONY, resident at Casa San Paolo, aged 80, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Violet, his brothers and his brothers-in-law, other relatives and numerous friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, at 7.30am for St Augustine church, Rabat, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8am, followed by interment at Santa Margerita Cemetery, Rabat. Symposium by the Faculty of Theology

The Faculty of Theology is holding a symposium entitled ‘Mercy and the Immigrant: Theology and Society in Dialogue’ at Villa Francia in Lija on Monday between 9am and 1pm.

Archbishop Charles Scicluna will be opening the symposium. The keynote address will be given by Fr René Micallef SJ, a member of the Society of Jesus. Fr Micallef lives in Rome and teaches moral theology and social ethics at the Faculty of Theology of the Pontifical Gregorian University, specialising in topics such as migration, conflict, human rights and the sources of moral reasoning.

Also taking part will be other experts on mercy and the immigrant, social welfare, health and legal issues and education.

There will be questions and discussion time at around 12.30pm before the conclusion, being given by Fr Stefan Attard, lecturer on Sacred Scripture, Hebrew and Greek.

St Julian’s Band Club AD 1927 annual concert

The St Julian’s Band Club AD 1927 is organising its annual concert at Xatt is-Sajjieda, Spinola Bay, St Julian’s, tomorrow at 8.30pm.

The band will be under the direction of its own bandmaster, Etienne Spiteri, with the participation of the St Julian’s Choral Group and singers Michela Dalli and Sebastian Calleja.

For this concert, the music compositions chosen will help those present to appreciate and enjoy the atmosphere that is offered by Spinola Bay through music.

This concert is being organised with the support of the St Julian’s local council.
