RIEMER. On December 15, MARIELLA, née Amato-Gauci, passed away peacefully, in her 52nd year, with her devoted and loving husband Garry by her side. She will be sadly missed by her beloved sons Steven, Patrick and Matthew Montgomery, and her stepdaughters Olivia and Chloe Riemer. She was predeceased by her father, Philip. She will not be forgotten by many loyal friends and former colleagues. Seven years ago, Mariella responded to a terminal diagnosis with defiance and determination. Her signature love of life was unbowed in the face of great challenges, as she and Garry – her rock through thick and thin – set off to explore Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nebraska, New York State and Prince Edward Island. When it was determined that she was too ill to fly, they continued their travels by car. She seized every opportunity to plan big, boisterous family get-togethers. Her beautiful smile warmed the lives of many, and will be deeply missed. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate, 28, Norfolk St., Guelph, today at 10am, followed by burial at Eden Mills Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Wellington, 795 Scottsdale Dr., Guelph, would be appreciated by the family. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
