ATTARD. On October 15, ANNUNZJATA, née Spiteri, of St Julian’s, residing at St Vincent de Paul residence, aged 73, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband John and her children Tony, Doris and Joseph, their spouses, her brothers and sisters, in-laws, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul residence today at 1pm for St Julian’s parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2pm, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

LLOYD. On October 14, PAMELA, Dame of the Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem, aged 90, passed away peacefully at Mater Dei Hospital after a short illness. Widow of Nelson Frederick John Lloyd, one of the founder members of the British Residents Association, and former chairman of the Malta Choral Society. The funeral will take place at St. Paul’s Anglican Cathedral, Valletta tomorrow Saturday 10am followed by interment at Mosta cemetery. No flowers by re-quest, but donations to St Paul’s Anglican Cathedral will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Discover University concert

As part of Discover University, a 90-minute live concert entitled ‘Groovy tunes – the journey’ will take place on October 25 at 8.30pm in the University’s Sir Temi Zammit hall on the Msida main campus.

The Brass House Unit, under the direction of trumpeteer Kevin Abela, will take the audience on a musical jour-ney from the soul of the 1960s to the groovy sounds of today, with a crossover of artists such as James Brown Tower of Power, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Phil Collins, Corona, Zucchero, Bruno Mars and Daft Punk.

The band includes Ivan Borg, Mat McKay, Daniel Quattro-mani and Godfrey Mifsud on saxophone, Kevin Abela and Reno Cassar on trum-pet, Jonathan Abela, Aurelio Belli and Joseph Borg on trombone, Simon Fenech on piano and keyboards, Jonathan Ellul on acoustic and lead guitar, James Micallef on bass, Melchior Busuttil on drums, Kristian Schembri on percussion, and will be accompanied by singers Gloriana Arpa Belli, Petra Micallef and Sean Borg.
