AQUILINA. On February 1, JOSEPHINE (known as Jessie), née Darmanin, aged 67, of Luqa, residing in Siġġiewi, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved husband Joseph, her children Roberta and Owen Argento, Vanya and Ludwig Borg, Andrew and Elaine Camilleri, her grandchildren Luca, Daniele, Francesco and Vito, her mother Rita Darmanin, her sisters and their spouses, the widow of her brother, her husband’s sisters and brother Rev. Nicholas Aquilina, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 2.30pm for St Nicholas parish church, Siġġiewi, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3pm, followed by interment in the family grave at Luqa cemetery. BORG. On January 25, FRANCIS JOSEPH, B.Pharm (known as Joe), aged 85, passed peacefully away after a long illness so bravely borne. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Martin and his wife Muriel, Anton and his wife Sarah, Anne and her husband Francis Cuschieri, his beloved grandchildren Sarah, Matthew and Malcolm, James, Katie and Joseph, Krista and Kurt, and their partners, his sister May Borg and sister-in-law Margaret Vassallo, his nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. FARRUGIA. On January 31, Sr STEFANINA, 94, of the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, passed peacefully away at the convent after a long illness, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her brother Franky and Vivie, her sister Rita Naudi, her sister-in-law Stella, nephews and nieces in Malta, US, Canada and Australia, and the Franciscan community after 75 years of consecrated service to God. The funeral leaves Betanja Convent tomorrow at 2pm for the church of St Francis, Msida, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.25pm followed by burial at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. GALEA. On January 22, in Montreal, Canada, ARCHIBALD JOHN, aged 81. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Diane, née Lord, and his son Marco, his sister Bernadette and brother Edward and his wife Edna, besides his many relatives and friends. The funeral service took place yesterday in Montreal at the chapel of St Francis of Assisi. A Mass for the repose of his soul will be said on Wednesday at 6pm at the Ursuline Crèche convent, Sliema. The Holy Rosary will precede Mass at 5.30pm. Donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

GRISCTI SOLER. On January 27, at the Memorial Medical Centre, Springfield, Illinois, US, NORMAN, Professor of Medicine (specialist in diabetes and endocrinology), passed peacefully away, aged 71. He leaves to mourn his great loss his most devoted wife, Dr Susan G. Soler, his son Richard and his wife Rini, his son John, his daughter Kate and her husband Dave Darneille, his beloved grandson Pano, his brothers Dr Albert Griscti Soler and his wife Kathleen, Dr Anthony Griscti Soler and his wife Carmelina, Architect Patrick Griscti Soler and his wife Odette, his sister Claudia and her husband Dr Godfrey Sant and his nephews and nieces. MAZZOLA. On January 31, YOLANDA, aged 91, of St Paul’s Bay, passed peacefully away at Mater Dei Hospital, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her son Paul and his wife Fiorella, her nieces Francesca and Rebecca, her sisters Olga and Iris, other relatives and friends. SAMMUT. On February 1, at Mater Dei Hospital, Mro FRANCESCO SAMMUT, aged 89, of Balzan, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his son Dr Joseph Sammut and his wife Monica, his daughters Maria Cerda and her husband George, and Anna, his grandchildren, in-laws, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2.30pm for St Helen’s Basilica, Birkirkara, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3pm followed by interment at Balzan cemetery. SCARDINI. On Saturday, January 25, in Rome, Major CARLO SCARDINI (Esercito Italiano), aged 80, passed peacefully away, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Mary Rose, née Bonnici, his children Nicoletta and her husband Massimo, Giorgia and her husband Daniel, Carla and her husband Fabrizio, Ruggero Massimo (Carabinieri Lieutenant), and Carlo Emanuele, his grandchildren Alberto, Angelo, Daniel Jr, Riccardo, Sofia, Edoardo and Carlo, his brothers, relatives and friends. The funeral was held in Rome. Rest in peace.

URPANI. On January 31, at Mater Dei Hospital, IDA (Dida), née Satariano, widow of Edgar, aged 98, passed peacefully away in her sleep, comforted by the rites of Holy Church.
