On July 15, to Francesca née Amato Gauci, and Jeff, God’s precious gift of a daughter – EMMA LYNN, greeted lovingly by her parents, first-time grandparents David and Noni Dauphinais and welcome addition to Victoria’s grands. Grateful thanks to the skilful team at Southlake Birthing Unit, Newmarket, Ontario. Thanking God and His blessed Mother for their love throughout.

HABER. On August 20, at St James Hospital, Żabbar, to Raquel née Camenzuli and Justin, God’s precious gift of a first-born son – KAI. Thanks to Our Lady of Ta’ Pinu and Our Lady of the Sanctuary of Mellieħa. Special thanks to Anna Croucher and all the staff at the hospital.

Marriage

Mr GIORGIO GRECH and Miss SVETLANA BARBARA, B.Ed. (Hons)

The marriage took place on Friday, August 16, between GIORGIO, son of Mr Pierre and Mrs Anna Grech, and SVETLANA, daughter of Mr Mario and Mrs Lorraine Barbara. Nuptial Mass was celebrated by Fr Samuel Grech at St Joseph the Worker church, Xemxija. Witnesses were Mr Andre Grech and Dr Ivan Barbara, LL.D. The duties of best man were performed by Mr Stefano Mifsud. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Tatiana Barbara, as maid of honour, and the groom’s sister, Dr Jeanella Grech, LL.D., as bridesmaid. Miss Ylenia Aquilina was the ring bearer. Mr Mark Gatt and Mr Mario Portelli acted as ushers. A reception was afterwards held at Palazzo Promontorio, Wardija. The couple spent their honeymoon in Bali and Malaysia.

Obituary

AXIAK. On September 6, at St James Hospital, Capua, FRIDA, aged 61, passed peacefully away after a courageous battle. Sadly missed by her loving husband Victor, her children Marija and Victor together with Sally and Claire and her beloved grandchildren Mark and Kristina, her mother Maria, widow of Roger, her sisters Sheila and Carmen, uncles and aunties, in-laws, their families, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St James Hospital tomorrow for Tarxien parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30am followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. CASSAR. On September 7, at Karin Grech Hospital, EMANUEL, known as Leli tal-Ħanut, aged 95, of Paola, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Lizzie and her husband Luke, John and his wife Doris, Sylvia and her husband Joseph and Carmen and her husband Frans, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Marion and her husband Antonio Lamagna, Charles and his wife Josianne, Caroline and her husband Silvio Falzon, Giacomo Ricciari, widower of her daughter Sandra, her grandchildren Wallace, Clint, Krista, Astrid, Victoria, Francesco, Daniel and Noelle, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul residence today at 1.5pm for Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery chapel where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2pm followed by interment.

GATT. On September 7, at Gozo General Hospital, ERSILJA, aged 101, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Joe, Carmen, Tony and his wife Dorothy, Paul and wife Mary, Mary, John and his wife Emily, Ludgard and his wife Rosalind, Georgette, widow of her son Franky, Rita, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren other relatives and friends – R.I.P. The funeral leaves Gozo General Hospital on Tuesday at 5.30pm for the Gozo Cathedral where Mass praesente cadavere will be held at 6pm followed by interment at Santa Maria cemetery in Xewkija. MAGRI. On September 6, in Melbourne, Australia, WILFRED, aged 83, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his great loss his beloved wife Gill, his daughter Nichola and her husband Matthew, his son Peter and his wife Christina, and his grandchildren Jackson, Emma, Daniel and Oscar. He is also mourned in Malta by his sisters May, widow of Victor, Doris, Elsie and her husband Joe, Margaret and her husband Oswald, Mona and her husband Alfred, Alice and her husband Albert, his brother Cecil and his wife Suzanne, his sister-in-law Margareta, widow of Joe, his nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. ZAHRA. On September 6, MARY ANNE, of Tarxien and residing in Fgura, aged 79, widow of Joseph, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Tanya, Audrey and her husband Manuel Vella and Albert and his wife Maria, grandchildren Luca and Valentina, her sisters, in-laws, their respective spouses, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8am for Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church Fgura, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30am followed by interment in the family grave at Erwieħ cemetery, Tarxien.
