On June 12, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARTIN of Burmarrad, re-siding in Mosta, widower of Rita, née Borg, (ex bus driver of EBY-615), aged 62, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his daughters Ruth and her husband Victor and Donatella and her husband James, his son Martin John and his wife Sarah, his grandchildren Isaac, Ella, Martina, Alex and Jeron, his brothers Paul, John and Alfred, his sisters Cecilia, Catherine, Salvina, Angela, Miriam, Carmen, Helen and Martha, their wives and husbands, nephew s and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2.45pm for Mosta parish church where Mass præsente cadavare will be said at 3.30pm, followed by interment in the family grave at Madonna tal-Ħniena Cemetery, Mellieħa. CIANGURA. On June 12, at Mater Dei Hospital, CARMELO, formerly of Rabat, residing at Mosta, aged 78, passed away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his daughter Pauline and her husband Paul, his sons Frans and his wife Mary, Gino and Graeme, his grandchildren, his sister Giovanna and her husband Vincent, Tessie widow of his brother and Maryanne, nephews and nieces other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 4.15pm to Mosta parish church where a Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 4.45pm followed by interment at Santa Margerita Cemetery, Rabat. MICALLEF. On June 13, at St Vincent de Paul Residence, CONNIE of Vittoriosa, residing in Guardamangia, widow of Joseph, aged 89, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Carmen and her husband Anthony Xerxen, Roger and his partner Theresa Azzopardi, Anna Pizzuto, Josette and her husband Joe Vella, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her brother, in-laws, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul Residence tomorrow Saturday at 1.30pm for Fatima Sanctuary, Guardamangia, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2pm, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. SPITERI MAEMPEL. On June 13, at Mater Dei Hospital, EVELYN, née Ferrante, widow of Josie, passed away peacefully, aged 93. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved children Mario and his wife Anna, Marie Therese and her husband Anthony De Marco, and Victoria and her husband John Farrugia, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her brother Lino, her in-laws Minka Ferrante Darbois and Connie Spiteri Maempel, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8am for Balzan parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30am followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Music competition

The National Council of Women is hosting the 14th edition of the Bice Mizzi Vassallo Music Competition. The preliminary session will take place on September 28. Regulations and application forms are available on the NCW website at www.ncwmalta.com or can be collected from the NCW office (2124 6982/2124 8881). Closing date for applications is June 28.

Volunteers for cottonera

Volunteers for Cottonera are organising a summer school for children from the Three Cities. Volunteers should be over the age of 17.

Training will be given in the first week of July. The actual summer school will be starting during the third week of July and will end during the first week of September. Volunteers will be required to attend twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8.30am till 12.00pm.

Dementia get-together

The Malta Dementia Society Support Group will be organising a get-together for carers and individuals with dementia on Saturday between 9.30 and 11am at Zammit Clapp Nursing Home.
