CACHIA. On January 27, suddenly at her residence in Sliema, THERESA née Cachia, aged 56, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Henry, her brothers and sisters Alfred and his wife Julianne, Marie and her husband Albert Caruana, Anna and her husband Adrian Attard, Richard and his wife Elizabeth, her sisters in-law Alice wife of Philip Vella and Marie, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 9am for the Sacro Cuor parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.30am followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. SAMMUT ALESSI. On January 27, at Casa Antonia, Balzan, HELEN, of Birkirkara, aged 85, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her sisters in-law Doris widow of Victor, Maria widow of Eddie and Louise widow of Paul, her nephews and nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Casa Antonia at 8.30am tomorrow for St Helen’s Basilica, Birkirkara, where a Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 9am followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. SCERRI. On January 27, CARMELO of Sliema, aged 91, husband of the late Carmela née Rocco, passed away peacefully at Mater Dei Hospital comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Carmen and her husband Lino Chetcuti, Frank and Jill Scerri, Anna and Austin Calleja, his beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his sister Stella Farrugia and many relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 1.30pm for Sacred Heart church in Sliema where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2pm followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorota Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza in Siġġiewi will be greatly appreciated. Lord grant him eternal rest. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors at home.

STRATI. On January 25, at the Little Sisters of the Poor Home, Ħamrun, MARCELLA, aged 89, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her cousins, among whom Mgr Fortunato Mizzi, other relatives and friends. The funeral Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 2.30pm today at the chapel of the Little Sisters of the Poor Home in Ħamrun followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Donations to charitable institutions will be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

VELLA. On Janurary 28, EMANUEL, aged 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Evelyn, his daughters Joyce and her husband Joe, Miriam and her husband Charlie, his grandchildren Keith and wife Greta, Darren, Katya, Daniela, Claire, Bianca and Baby Liam. He also leaves to mourn his loss his brothers and their families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital, today at 1.45pm to the Gżira parish church, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.15pm, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. VELLA. On January 27, at Mater Dei Hospital, GRACE née Muscat, aged 74, widow of Emmanuel, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved children Mary, Margaret and her husband Giovanni Mifsud, Lucy and her husband Vanni Camilleri, Paul and his wife Maria, Dorothy and her husband Paul Vella, Saviour and his wife Pauline, Roger and his wife Mary, her 17 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, her sisters Stella Muscat, Carmen Galea, Maria and her husband Joe Bonanno, her in-laws Patricia Muscat widow of her brother Paul, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 2.15pm for Mġarr parish church, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3pm, followed by interment at Mġarr Cemetery. No flowers by request, but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. The family thanks the doctors and nurses at the Cardiac Surgical Ward of Mater Dei Hospital for their care and attention during their mother’s illness. Lord, grant her eternal rest.
