ASCIAK. On January 3, LILIAN née Pillow passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her irreparable loss her most beloved husband Albert, her daughter Theresa and her husband John Galdes, her son Edward, her adored grandchildren, Rachel, Emma, Andrew, Marc and Lara. She also leaves to mourn her sisters Marie Louise and her husband Walter O’Dea, Mona and her husband Godwin Pace Bardon, her brothers Joe and his wife Margie, Robert and his wife Sarah and Norman and his wife Maureen, her in-laws Joe, Mary, Agnes, Bernadette and their families, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be said tomorrow at 9.30am at St John of the Cross parish church, Ta’ Xbiex, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi and the Jesuit Refugee Service, Birkirkara will be appreciated.

AZZOPARDI. On January 2, PROF. JOHN, aged 83 of Ealing, London, and Sliema, passed away peacefully after a short illness comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He is mourned by his wife Sally, his son Tim, daughter-in-law Sarah, grandchildren Rachel and Mia, and daughter Joanna, partner Mark and grandchildren Maisie and Marnie. He is also mourned by his brother Paul in Adelaide, his sister Josephine in Casa Antonia and her son Peter and daughters Gillian, Mary and Jackie and their families. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

RUTTER. On January 3, at Mater Dei Hospital, ALBERT V, widower of Josephine née Fenech, Consul of Colombia, chairman and founder of Unesco Club, Malta and of the Malta Correspondence Club, aged 78, of Ħamrun, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his son Victor and his wife Mary Rose, his son Simon and his wife Yvette, his grand­children Trevor, Stuart, Kelvin and Charmaine, his sister Joan Zammit Tabona, his carer Carmen Caruana, his nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8.30am for St Gaetan’s parish church, Ħamrun, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

SATARIANO. On January 2, at Mater Dei Hospital, MELINA, née Borg, widow of Anthony, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her son Victor and his wife Anna, her daughter Sandra and her husband Michael, her grandchildren Roberta, Marco, Petra, Michela and Francesca, together with their respective spouses and partners, her great-grandchildren Kyra, Lara, Sam, Johanna and baby Ella, as well as her brothers and sisters and their families, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8.15am for St Gregory parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.45am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

TURBAN. On January 3, at Mater Dei Hospital, RITA, née Schembri, widow of George, of Birżebbuġa, aged 74, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church and surrounded by her family, after a long illness fought with smiling courage of Christian fortitude. She leaves to mourn her great loss her daughter Marthese and her husband Andrew Farrugia, her son Ray and his wife Helga, her daughter Josette and her husband Jonathan Pace, her grandchildren Ian, Nadya, Adrian, Elena and Erika and her beloved great-grandchild Luca, her sister Maria, wife of Alfred Farrugia, her sister-in-law Carmela Schembri, nephews Salvino and Victor Schembri and their families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.45pm for Birżebbuġa parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2.30pm, followed by interment in the family vault at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Hospice Malta, Balzan, will be appreciated. Heartfelt thanks to Hospice Malta for their support, Boffa Hospital staff for their care and the Gynae Ward at Mater Dei Hospital for their immense loving care. May the Almighty God grant her eternal rest.
