CAMILLERI. On May 6, at Sir Paul Boffa Hospital, LAWRENCE of St Julians, aged 82, passed away peacefully. He leaves to mourn his great loss his wife Antonia, née Azzopardi, his son Christopher, his daughter Alex and her husband Clive, his grandchildren James, Joanne, Jennifer, Stefan and Jarrad, his sister Georgina, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.15 p.m. for Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church, Balluta, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 2 p.m., followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Hospice Malta, Balzan, would be greatly appreciated. The family would like to thank the Hospice Services and staff at PCU, Sir Paul Boffa Hospital. Lord, grant him eternal peace.

WETTINGER. On May 5, at Mater Dei Hospital, ANGELO MATTHEW of Għargħur, aged 80, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his great loss his devoted wife Carmen, née Mousú, his only loving daughter Mariella and her husband Owen, his beloved granddaughters Justyne and Jeanelle, his nephew David and niece Caroline, their families, his wife’s family, neighbours and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8.30 a.m. for Għargħur parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 9 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. Requiescat in Pace.

ZERAFA. On May 5, at Casa Antonia, Balzan, URSOLA, née, Mula, of Żurrieq (widow of Joseph), aged 86, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her irreparable loss her children David and his wife Catherine, Nazzarene and his wife Maria (resident in Australia), Catherine and her husband Alexander Galea, Richard and his wife Jane, Joe and his wife Lina, Mario and his wife Josette, and her sister-in-law Maria Abdilla, their families, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Malta and abroad, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Casa Antonia today at 2.45 p.m. for St Catherine parish church, Żurrieq, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 3.30 p.m. followed by interment in the family grave at San Leone Cemetery, Żurrieq. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. The family would like to express its thanks and gratitude to the staff of Casa Antonia, and the doctors and nurses involved in her care at Mater Dei Hospital, especially Ward M2. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Beautiful memories of a close knit family still linger on with never a day going by without mentioning her name. Denis, Séan and Aida, Peter and Joanna and Mark, Kieran, Nico and Matt, grandchildren she so yearned to see.

International Music Festival

The 16th edition of the Bir Miftuħ International Music Festival, organised by Din l-Art Ħelwa in the unique medieval ambiance of the church of Santa Marija ta’ Bir Miftuħ, opens on May 26 with a string recital by the Kalypso Ensemble. The event is supported by the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute.

A classical guitar recital by Ulrich Rasche will follow on June 1, thanks to the German Embassy. A string recital by Agnès Pyka on the violin and Edouard Sapey-Triomphe on the violoncello will be held on June 9 by courtesy of the French Embassy and Alliance Française de Malte – Méditerranée.

All concerts start at 8 p.m. Tickets cost €20 per person and include refreshments after the performance.
