Plans for childcare centre in Ethiopia

Maltese development organisation Kopin is collecting donations to build an early childcare and development centre in Akaki Kality, one of Addis Ababa’s sub-cities in Ethopia.

The centre will cater for a large number of abandoned, neglected and vulnerable children, giving them proper care while providing support to parents and training for teachers.

Volleyball Marathon needs volunteers

Applications for volunteers and players who want to take part in the annual 2012 BOV Volleyball Marathon in aid of Dar tal-Providenza are open.

The marathon, which has become an annual event, will collect much needed funds for the residence for disabled people.

Now in its fourth edition, the marathon will take place in the car park of Dar Tal-Providenza, limits of Siġġiewi, at the end of June. Those wishing to apply can visit www.facebook.com/Volley4DTP. The closing date of the applications is April 30.

Book conservation

As part of the series of monthly talks held at Din l-Art Ħelwa’s premises in Valletta, Theresa Zammit Lupi will speak on the meaning of the book as seen through the eyes of a book conservator. Her purpose is to raise awareness on the urgency to invest into the rescue of Malta’s national identity by highlighting how conservation can save irreplaceable national collections.
