AZZOPARDI. On November 22, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARY of Rabat, residing at Ħamrun, aged 80, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved son, Mr Justice Joseph Azzopardi and his wife Maria, her beloved daughter Mary Rose and her husband Mario Lia, her beloved grandchildren, Dr Annalies Azzopardi and Michelle Lia, her brother Edward and his wife Maryanne and her sister Antida and her husband Vincent Aquilina, her in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2 p.m. for St Cajetan parish church, Ħamrun, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

CAMILLERI. On November 22, at Casa Arkati, Mosta, JOE of Sliema, widower of Sophie, née Ripard, aged 101, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. Mourned by his daughters and their families, Margaret and Joe Costa, Vick and Norman Pace Asciak, Carole and George Pace Balzan, Rita and Vincent Rizzo, and Ben, his grandchildren Clarissa and Marcel, Veronica and Kenneth, Jackie and Peter, Debbie and Simon, Nikki and Julian, Roberta, Mark, Vincent and Steffi, Edward, Luisa and Karl, his 16 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. He will live forever in our hearts. The family thank all the staff at Casa Arkati for their constant attention and dedication. We also thank Sina and Aldo for their help whenever we needed them. The funeral leaves Casa Arkati tomorrow at 2 p.m. for Stella Maris parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. ELLUL. On November 21, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPH RONALD, of Balzan, aged 81, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife of 51 years Carmen, his son Christopher and his wife Svetlana, his daughters Simone and her fiancé Craig, Yvette and her husband Mario, his grand-children Philip, Alexia, Andrew and Peter, his sister Maria, in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2 p.m. for Balzan parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Mater Dei ITU for the excellent care given. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

GRIMA. On November 22, at St Vincent de Paul residence, GIOVANNA, sive Jane, of Valletta, aged 81, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Domenic, her children Raymond and his wife Agatha, Maryanne and her husband Stephen and Albert and his wife Louisa, her grandchildren Rachel and her husband Simo, Daniel, Kurt, Sheryl and Thomas, her brothers and sisters, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul residence tomorrow at 7.45 a.m. for Our Lady of Porto Salvo (St Dominic) parish church, Valletta, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Book fair

A book fair will be held at the Archbishop’s Seminary, Tal-Virtù on Friday from 3 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. preceded by Mass at 8 a.m.

Ottoman view in Great Siege of 1565

The next cultural lecture organised by Din l-Art Ħelwa will be delivered by John Saré who will be focusing on the Ottoman perspective as portrayed in the book by Joseph Ellul in The Great Siege of Malta 1565. The lecture will take place on December 15 at 133, Melita Street, Valletta, at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
