Fundraising barbecue

Appoġġ Cottonera Community Services will hold a fundraising barbecue in aid of Klabbsajf 2011 on September 2 at 7 p.m. at the Verdala Boys Secondary School in Cospicua.

The evening includes performances by Curtain Raiser, Zoo, Veronica u d-Dulli, Kurt Calleja, and Errol and Johan from Airport Impressions, among others.

Klabbsajf is a project coordinated by Appoġġ and Aċċess Community Resource Centre in Vittoriosa, together with St Margaret College and the Foundation for Educational Services. It offers alternative activities for children aged between five and 11 from Cottonera and Kalkara during their summer holidays.

Mission Fund lottery

The winners of prizes in the Mission Fund Grand Lottery which was drawn last week are: M’ Dolores Debono of Sta Luċija who won first prize; Joseph Mallia of Marsa, second; and Yvonne Millo of San Ġwann who placed third. This lottery raised more than €8,200 in aid of Maltese and Gozitan missionaries in Third World countries.

Midnight walk in aid of hospice

Hospice Malta is organising a four-kilometre midnight walk which will take place on September 16. It starts and ends at the Buġibba square. Those taking part have to meet at 10.30 p.m. and the donation is €5 per person. Those interested can contact Hospice Malta on 2144 0085 or visit www.hospicemalta.org.

Power cuts

There will be power cuts in the following towns tomorrow:

Between 7 and 9 a.m. in Ħriereb Street, Msida.

Between 8 a.m. and noon in San Ġwann and Għargħur streets, Għargħur.

Between 8 a.m. and noon in Valletta Road, Żurrieq.

Between 8 a.m. and noon in Etna Street, Mellieħa.

Temporary closure of sub-post office

The sub-post office at Paul’s Arcade, Triq il-Kaħli, St Paul’s Bay, will be closed for business between August 29 and September 5, both days included. During this closure the public may use the St Paul’s Bay Post Office at Sqaq tax-Xama’.

Seige commemoration

The Xagħra community will be holding a commemoration of the sieges of Malta on September 7. Events start with Mass at 9 a.m., followed by a commemorative ceremony at 10 a.m. Everyone is invited.
