BUTTIGIEG. On June 1, at St Vincent de Paul residence, CARMELO, of Victoria, Gozo, residing in Mosta, widower of Mary, aged 80, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Catherine, Anthony, Gloria, Harriet and their spouses, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his brothers and sisters, in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul residence tomorrow at 8 a.m. for Mosta Rotunda parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. Lord, grant him eternal rest.
CALLEJA. On June 1, MARIA ANTONIA (ex-headmistress), aged 95, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss Theresa Lucas, Ġemma, Gregory and Jonathan Mercieca, who for these last years, took great care of her with love, her cousins, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Gozo General Hospital today at 5 p.m. for Kerċem parish church, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 5.30 p.m. followed by interment at St Mary’s Cemetery, Xewkija. May God grant her eternal rest.

Msida historic garden
On the occasion of World Environment Day, Din l-Art Ħelwa this weekend celebrates the International Year of the Forest at the Msida Bastion historic garden with two open mornings on Saturday and Sunday.
The neo classic garden that boasts several original trees dating to the early 19th century will be open from 9 a.m. to noon when plants and books will be on sale.
Entrance is against a donation and all funds raised are dedicated to the maintenance of the heritage site, which is accessible by turning left by the Excelsior Hotel after Great Siege Road and left again after the public library.
