The sun, the sea and some of the biggest, baddest rock tunes are on the menu for the upcoming boat party that’s being organised by Alternative Obsessions (AO) and Rookies a week from today.

AO have been hibernating during the winter, after a successful run of local live events that saw a string of riveting foreign bands – among them Random Hand, The Skints and Cancer Bats – take the stage alongside some of the leading names from the Maltese Ska, punk, metal and indie scene.

Rookies on the other hand, really needs no introduction; its role as both a venue and a hangout are known to all, over and above its annual Battle of the Bands, which has featured most of the upcoming bands on the local scene.

The Anchors Away boat party is the first collaboration between AO and Rookies; a union that will bring the best of their trademark party vibes to a different setting without losing any of the merrymaking.

In fact, they’re upping the ante, and over and above a continuous mixed playlist featuring favourite punk, rock, ska, dubstep, indie and metal hits, the party will also feature live acts and a number of fun-filled party games with cool prizes to be won.

The live music will kick off once the boat gets to the Blue Lagoon, with local upcoming acts Serkills and 5 Years From Now playing lively sets to keep the party going.

It’s all happening next Sunday on board the Hornblower. For full details about the event or to book your ticket, look up Alternative Obsessions or the AO and Rookies Anchors Away Boat Party event page on Facebook.
